FASTER RECOVERY
Enhanced circulation assists the removal of post activity build-up of lactic
acid collected in muscle tissue. Improved circulation combined with enhanced
muscle stabilization for reduced muscle damage all assist in speeding recovery.
Reduced Fatigue & Enhanced Muscle Stability
Targeted muscle groups are isolated and fully encapsulated, resulting in muscle vibration reduction. The muscle group is stabilized by the garments, resulting in less immediate fatigue and reduced chance of injury.

KEY BENEFITS OF Zone Construction™ COMPRESSION
Engineered graduated compression through Zone Construction™ creates specific
compression rings that provide lateral forces against the body, with the
greatest force at the extremities that gradually decrease as you move closer to
the heart. Zone Construction™ allows SUGOI to deliver balanced graduated
compression at the recommended 0.6 lbf/inch at 50% garment elongation. For
example, if the calf section of a relaxed garment measures 10 inches in
circumference; then, when it is stretched around the calf during wear it will
measure 15 inches to achieve 50% elongation. At 50% elongation the fabric
compression is measured at 0.6 lbf/inch.
Working in conjunction with the body’s skeletal muscle pump, contraction and
relaxation of calf muscles forcing blood to be pumped back towards the heart,
Zone Construction™ compression rings enhance blood flow and increase circulation
of oxygenated blood within the body.
POWERFUL COMPRESSION
SUGOI PISTON™ fabric delivers powerful compression. This balanced compression
provides nearly equivalent stretch and recovery in both fabric directions (warp
and weft). When tested, PISTON™ delivers 0.6 pounds per square inch (lbf/inch)*
based on 50% garment stretch.

Based on studies conducted by DuPont when developing Lycra® Power™
compression garments, appropriate compression is achieved at 0.6 lbf/inch at 50%
fabric elongation.

APPROPRIATE LEVEL OF COMPRESSION FOR ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES
At SUGOI, we believe that any garment claiming graduated compression
attributes should provide compression forces ranging between 5-15 mm Hg.
Mm Hg is the abbreviated version of millimeters of mercury, a standard unit
of pressure. A pressure transducer is utilized to measure the mm Hg levels of
compression force applied to the body by compression fabric.
Compression above 15 mm Hg serves medical purposes, like devices made for
individuals with diabetes and serious circulatory ailments.
Between 1991 and 2001, DuPont Lycra® conducted a series studies on the
physiological benefits of compression apparel and graduated compression hosiery.
These studies led to an industry recommended level of compression for healthy,

SIZING REINFORCES THE SUGOI COMPRESSION POSITIONING

manufacturer, have teamed up to introduce the new Wallaroo line of Merino active wear and retailers across
North America are clamoring to order the revolutionary new line.
This is the first time in Sugoi’s history, that the company is using natural
fiber in one of its lines, having preferred high performance synthetics in the past.

To represent Merino’s key properties, the new collection is fittingly named,
Wallaroo, after a breed of kangaroo most adaptive to hot and cold temperatures. Merino has
excellent thermal regulation and moisture movement, to keep people comfortable in all
conditions, even when they’re wet.
“We’ve already had fantastic bookings and the response has truly been
spectacular,” said Stan Mavis, president of Sugoi. “The buyers were surprised that it was so luxurious
and had almost a cashmere hand to it.”
“AWI introduced us to a special enzyme wash that can be used to take out the
coarser fibers and produce a more uniform and consistent product that washes and wears very
well,” said Mavis. “North American society is a washer/dryer society so it was important that the
product be washer/dryer friendly.”
The Wallaroo collection features two different weights of Merino and seven
styles of men’s and women’s apparel. Certain pieces are intended to be used for base layering
while others can be worn independently depending on the activity. The new collection is consistent
with other Sugoi lines, featuring the same look and feel and performance oriented stitching
despite the move to Merino.
Stuart McCullough, director of North American Operations at AWI, is
enthusiastic about the new line and how it is already changing common misperceptions about Merino.
