How should my 2XU Compression garments fit?

Your 2XU Compression garment should fit the body snugly and firmly without uncomfortably ‘cutting in’ to the body. If this is the case, you should review your size choice.

For upper body garments, a free range of movement in the shoulders is essential, as is comfort in the underarms.

For specific sizing, please refer to our size chart below, taking into consideration that if you’re near the borderline for sizes or you wish to wear your compression garment primarily for recovery purposes, be sure to choose the smaller size where possible.

2XU Compression Socks and Sleeves

Construction: Circular Knit

• 4 way stretch for even 360 degree pressure and support/3D fit

• Provides exceptional breathability

• Flat lock stitching for maximum comfort

Design: Graduated Fit

• Graduated fit is tighter at the extremities to improve venous return (enhanced circulation)

• mmHg rating – Used to measure pressure garments apply to the skin

• Pressure (mmHg) ratings reduce along the length of the garment in a graduated fashion

• Higher the mmHg rating, the greater the pressure

• Garments should be tight but not restrictive or painful to wear

• Tights are around 31 - 33 mmHg at the ankle, graduating to 16 - 18 mmHg

• Socks record 38 mmHg at the foot/ankle and graduate to 18 – 20 mmHg

Main Benefits:

1. Increased Circulation – Longer durations of sustained muscle performance, less fatigue, faster recovery

2. Muscle Containment – Reduced muscle vibration, improved muscle alignment for increased power, protection

from muscle damage and fatigue

3. Reduces the effects of DOMS – Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness

4. Heightened Proprioception – More alert and agile

5. Improved thermo regulation (temperature control) – Better cooling and warming in varied climates

Primary Uses:

• Active wear – Warming up, training and racing

• Recovery – Post workout

• Travel - Prevention of DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) and pooling of blood in feet

• Sleeping – Increases circulation for improved muscle repair and faster recovery

• At altitude to help combat less oxygen - Training / recovery / sleeping

• Rehabilitation from injury or surgery

Other attributes of2XU compression:

• Anti-bacterial treatment ensures reduced odor

• Flat-lock stitching for maximum stretch and comfort

• Breathable with moisture management for dryness and temperature control

• 50+ UV sun protection

Fitting advice:

• Tights - You can’t pull them on like a pair for jeans! Like stockings, gather them over the foot and ankle, then pull

them up the leg

• Compression garments should fit firmly, but not be restrictive or painful

• Blood must still flow through the apertures of the garment

Washing:

• No heat – Delicate wash, hang dry (no drier)

• No softener additive – Technical fabrics don’t like it.

Relentlessly scouring the globe for the finest high performance materials available, 2XU has formulated a 70 denier circular knit fabric which represents the international epitome in performance compression fabric. Delivering 15% more support and 25% more power than typical compression fabrics, this light weight fabric maintains pressure for longer to reduce fatigue time and time again..

2XU Compression garments are the only multipurpose compression garments constructed using a circular high gauge knit structure. This structure delivers an evenly distributed 360 degree stretch compression not achievable in garments with a traditional tricot knit.

Embedded with an antibacterial, odor resistant application, 2XU Compression can help minimize odor and prevent bacterial growth.

Utilizing a nylon/LYCRA® fabric matrix, 2XU Compression garments boast a UPF sun protection rating of 50+ to offer the wearer maximum protection during outdoor training and competition.

2XU Compression delivers long life performance through the use of LYCRA® fiber from INVISTA. With high level elasticity, powerful LYCRA® fiber ensures compressive properties are maintained for the expected life of the garment.

Deep Vein Thrombosis is a condition that mainly affects the lower body and is typically associated with long periods of travel or inactivity. 2XU Compression garments enhance blood flow in these areas through enhanced

2XU Compression fabrics channel moisture away from the skin, keeping you dry and comfortable.

There is no doubt that compression clothing helps improve circulation, it is proven technology that has been used for years. You may have noticed your grandmother wearing compression stockings decades ago. Compression garments are commonly used in the medical community to help improve circulation post-surgery, prevent blog clot formation, reduce fluid retention and swelling, and speed injury recovery.

The makers of athletic garments are now utilizing and improving these technologies, 2XU Elite Compression Tights are a step forward in compression technology.  Using a thicker Lycra yarn the Elite Tight provides a bit more compression than similar products yet the Elite fabric breathes well enough to not overheat even on a 90 degree day. In fact the compression allows the body to better maintain its circulatory (Cooling) systems. Combining a new generation 70 denier fabric with their existing high power 50 denier fabric, 2XU elite compression tights offer superior compression to enable greater muscle stability and injury prevention. The new generation 70 denier fabric, with 15% more support and 25% more power than the 50 denier fabric, has been designed to support the calves and hamstring muscles - areas which are particularly prone to fatigue, injury and muscle soreness.

Sport compression garments generally promise two things; improved performance and improved recovery.  Do not expect to knock minutes off of your next race with just any clothing item, but the Elite tights have provide long term value during your work outs, allowing more frequent, harder workouts.  During high intensity intervals that require recovery periods between efforts any increase in venous return is welcome as waste products are more quickly flushed out.  By improving circulation, recovery is also be improved.  2XU compression products aid in endurance and may reduce muscle vibration and trauma.  Eccentric contractions (ex. downhill running) are the most damaging.  When viewed in slow motion you can see how the working leg muscles stiffen and vibrate upon impact, with 2XU a marked reduction in muscle vibrations occur while wearing the tights.

Revel Sports believes that the real value is for the 2XU Elite tights is not so much in improved performance but improved recovery, particularly post race or difficult workout.

Because athletes have lower heart rates and resulting circulation at rest, they are more at risk for deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or blood clots that form usually in the legs.  These clots can travel to the lungs or brain causing serious damage; even death.  If you compete in an event and immediately get on a plane or sit in a car for long periods you may be at risk for DVT, especially in a dehydrated state when the blood thickens.  I think the elites should be standard issue for any ultra distance athlete traveling long distances post race, or just for post race recovery.

2XU GRADUATED PRESSURE

2XU’s graduated compression technology boasts regulated pressure throughout all garments to deliver performance benefits during and post exercise. By enhancing circulation through increased venous function, more oxygenated blood is delivered to the muscles that need it most. At the same time, by-products created by exercise, such as lactic acid, are flushed from the muscles to reduce fatigue and decrease recovery time.

2XU engineers products with the single minded goal of equipping the athlete to feel more prepared, race ready and capable than the competition. As they put on their technologically advanced garments, athletes also put on a desire to perform beyond expectation and be greater than ever before. Armed with 2XU technology, another piece of the finely balanced athletic equation is in place to multiply your human performance. 2XU marks the beginning of a new era in sporting equipment.
